Alopecia Areata Awareness Month

Alopecia awareness month

September is Alopecia Areata Awareness Month!

Alopecia Areata Awareness Month is a month-long celebration and recognition of all those affected by alopecia areata.

During September, the NAAF community works to increase awareness, reduce stigma and empower those living with alopecia areata locally and nationally.

Here are just a few of the ways you can help:

  • Join our nationwide campaign, the Walk for AlopeciaTM by creating a fundraising page as a team or individual. September is Alopecia Areata Awareness Month! Let’s Walk For Alopecia!
  • Make a personal donation to NAAF. Visit to see if your employer or your spouse’s employer will match your contribution.
  • Host a ‘Do It Yourself’ fundraiser by creating an event in your neighborhood or community. Ask your book club, running club, cycling group, community group, etc. to help you!
  • Donate your car, truck, motorcycle, or RV to NAAF.
  • Donate stock/securities, property, or include NAAF in your will or estate plan by contacting Robbie Baker.

  • Hold or sponsor a family-friendly awareness event in your area.
  • Send a Brave Barbie to a friend or family member.
  • Share alopecia areata education brochures at public libraries, community centers or other popular places. Download here and print.
  • Organize a TeamUp event with your local sports team.
  • Contact your local newspaper, television and radio stations and arrange for a personal interview.

  • Sign up as an advocate and learn how to reach out to your elected officials about legislation that impacts the alopecia areata community.
  • Learn about the alopecia areata community’s legislative priorities.
  • Consider volunteering as a Legislative Liaison or Legislative Mentor (ages 12-17).

NAAF wishes to thank the vendors, businesses and individuals who are partnering with us during the month of September to spread awareness, raise funds, and better serve those in the alopecia areata community. Their generosity and dedication are very much appreciated, and we encourage you to visit them online:
